A cloudy day and rain didn’t prevent about 400 of us to drive all the way to Goshala and associate with the holy cows on the auspicious day of Pongal. It was a treat for the eyes when a beautiful rainbow appeared during the celebration to greet us. Kites and Charkis were donated by OM Indian Bistro. Within minutes we ran out of all the kites. Volunteers played an incredible role in various tasks from performing Gau Puja, Kirtans, reception, helping with the kites, kids’ activities, Rangoli competition and last but not the least, ensuring everyone gets food to eat for which they cooked Prasadam nonstop. While the Gau Puja was being performed which was attended by a large number of people, it was noticed that a few of the devotees were collecting cow dung as manure. It was also amazing to see a few first time visitors to Goshala volunteering with great zeal and enthusiasm.
It’s by far the best Pongal ever Goshala has seen with the incredible team work and support! Among the dignitaries we noticed newly appointed President of India Association, Nanik Chandramani gracing the event with his presence along with his family members. This year we had many coming forward and speaking on various topics from cow protection to water pollution and keeping everyone abreast on all the activities Goshala does throughout the year. There are many events organized by Goshala to raise awareness of cow protection and its impact on environment and health benefits. The cows too seemed to be enjoying the influx of people around them most of whom had come with treats as they caressed and petted the docile bovines lovingly.
